We want to revolutionize the way people share resources. There are over 300,000 EV chargers in private households in Norway. Most of them are not used over 90% of the time. Therefore, Fount gives individuals the opportunity to share their electric car chargers through our platform, Share by Fount. This contributes to a more sustainable use of resources and is a step into the sharing economy. One of our first customers, Kristian Amlie, shares his experiences using our solution for sharing private charging points.
Why Fount?
Kristian Amlie discovered Fount through our website when he had long hoped for a sharing service for EV chargers, as he enjoys sharing.
"I love sharing things, like lawnmowers, drills, and other things I have. Therefore, it was natural to find a service for sharing charging points as well. Fount was a local player, with familiar faces behind it, and that's why I chose them," says Kristian.
Kristian's charging point was often idle. In winter, the family and he charge twice a week, while in summer, only once a month, as they cycle a lot. The opportunity to share the charging point with neighbours was the reason why Kristian signed up. "If you're curious about new and fun things, you should try Fount yourself. It takes very little time to set up, costs you nothing, and it’s extra income from a charging point that isn't in use all the time anyway," says Amlie.
Experiences
"It's mostly neighbours in the area who charge at my place, especially one neighbour who charges a lot, maybe twice a week regularly. Otherwise, there are a couple of neighbours who have charged occasionally," says Kristian. “My experience is that I don't need to do anything. They drive into my open garage where the charger is, connect to the charger, scan the QR code, and pay through Fount.”
Kristian doesn't need to worry about managing the charging, and once a month, he receives payment for the charging sessions. "Very simple for me, no stress, and nothing I have to do. It's just nice to say hello if I meet someone charging at my place when I'm out with the dogs," says Kristian.
Tips for others
For others who want to use Fount's service, Kristian shares some simple tips. He recommends clearly informing the neighbourhood about the available charging point, by putting up flyers in the area or writing it in the neighbourhood’s Facebook group. This way, he informs about the available charging capacity.
"I do it to be nice, to try new things, and I also think it's nice to share," says Kristian. “It's easy to use Fount, and cars come here to charge, which I have no idea who they are, and it works just fine too.”
